Year six and seven students at Scarborough Primary School have won their school two new garden beds installed by Great Gardens TV personality Chris Ferreira, after their scarecrow was voted most popular by visitors at Garden Week 2011. Scarecrow ‘Recycle Michael’ was created with recycled materials and featured a live worm farm.

Due to the popularity of the competition, Therapy Focus and Garden Week once again invite Perth primary school students to create a scarecrow friend for Therapy Focus mascot Sunny the Sunflower, to be displayed and judged at this year’s event.
All visitors that vote for a scarecrow go into the draw to win a Yates prize pack filled with goodies for the garden.
The winning school will receive a visit from sustainability guru Chris Ferreira and his Great Gardens Team together with two garden beds fully installed.

“Gardening can be very beneficial to children’s development in many different areas. It’s a physical and social activity, and teaches children about environmental conservation and sustainability”, says Chris.
